A building constructed in around 1800 with a princ A building constructed in around 1800 with a principal rafter and purlins to each roof pitch. Unusually, the rafter sits onto a bearing plate in the stonework and is not connected to the floor beam. On top of that the rafter has failed at the purlin due to extent of notching and a knot causing additional weakness. The resulting thrust has pushed the stonework out slowly over the last 200 years as can be seen by the dog leg gutter in the final photograph.

Some brackets required to connect the timbers and then stitching to tie the stonework to the floor.
